Celebrating a Milestone on National Battery Day

Today, on National Battery Day, Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! is proud to celebrate a milestone for battery recycling in Canada.

Canadians have now recycled more than 60 million kilograms of batteries through the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program, since its inception in 1997. That’s about half the weight of the CN Tower.

In 2025 alone, Canadians recycled more than 8 million kilograms of used batteries, marking the highest annual collection total in our program’s history.

And the progress continues! The Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program expanded into Alberta and Yukon in 2025, and into New Brunswick in January of 2026. More Canadians than ever can now recycle their batteries close to home.
