What is the circular economy?
The circular economy is a concept built around zero waste. A “linear economy” moves in a straight line. From resource extraction, to manufacturing, to disposal.
The circular economy retains and recovers as much value as possible from resources by reusing, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, repurposing, or recycling products and materials

Diverting from landfills
Each year millions of household batteries end up in landfills, where toxic metals could enter the waste stream and harm our environment.
Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! has helped to divert over 40 MILLION kg of household battery waste from landfills.

Sustainability: Our future depends on you
Batteries and other energy storage solutions are pivotal in combating global climate change, but a lot of work still has to be done in terms of our disposable culture and what we do with household battery waste.
In addition to consumers like you doing your part to collect, protect, and drop off used household batteries, the results we’re achieving wouldn’t be possible without the great efforts from our collection partners, stewards, and program members.

Collection partners
Our collection partners include the municipalities across Canada enrolled in the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program dedicated to properly and safely recycle household batteries, and participating retailers, who provide easy access for consumers to drop off their used household batteries.
Members
Members are the producers, importers, brand owners and retailers of batteries (and products that contain batteries) that support this program.
They fund the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program to ensure that the batteries they are introducing into the marketplace are responsibly recycled when they reach their end of life.
