Recently, Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!, helped celebrate with some of the winners of the Fall 2024 Edition of the Battery Blitz School Mission Contest.
The contest, arranged with our incredible partner, Earth Rangers, was held in October of 2024 across three provinces, and the results were truly impressive!
Inspiring Eco-Friendly Habits at Schools
Over 100 schools joined the contest, encouraging students to collect their used batteries and bring them back to their school, fostering strong recycling habits. The contest teaches students how small actions can contribute to a healthier planet, and how simple it can be to protect our environment.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of students, educators, and families, over 25,000 kilograms of batteries were collected, helping to protect the environment and build eco-friendly habits from a young age.
The Winning Schools in British Columbia, Ontario and PEI were:
Province | School | Batteries Collected |
---|---|---|
British Columbia | WL McLeod Elementary | 524 kg |
Ontario | Cliffside Public School | 2 075 kg |
Prince Edward Island | Eliot River Elementary School | 3 237 kg |
These schools led the charge in their communities and proved that when education meets action, significant change happens.
