At Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!, we strongly believe in the power of sports to bring communities together. Through our commitment to supporting youth sports programs and promoting accessible battery recycling, we are investing in a cleaner, safer future for our young athletes.
We are proud to announce a new multi-year partnership with the Fredericton District Soccer Association (FDSA), a collaboration that brings together youth sport and environmental responsibility in a meaningful way. As a national program powered by Call2Recycle, we continue to grow our footprint across Canada by teaming up with organizations that share our commitment to a sustainable future.
As part of this partnership, Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! will proudly serve as the front-of-shirt sponsor for FDSA’s Skills Centre program and Premiership Girls program. Together, we are supporting young athletes as they grow and as future leaders in their communities.

“For me, this is about more than just a partnership, it’s about what we stand for as a club,” said Joe Hamilton, Executive Director of the Fredericton District Soccer Association. “We’re trying to develop good players, but more importantly better people who will become future leaders of our community. It’s great to find partners who support youth sport while also making a positive impact on the environment and our community. This gives us a chance to connect our players and families to something that really matters, and we’re excited about where it can go long term.”
On May 5, 2026, FDSA hosted Together We Reimagine Recycling in New Brunswick, a provincial event highlighting the launch and early success of battery and light recycling programs across New Brunswick.
The event featured a panel discussion including The Honourable Gilles LePage, provincial Minister of Environment and Climate Change, as well as leaders from Recycle NB, Product Care Recycling, and Call2Recycle Canada. Christine Sinclair attended as Ambassador for Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!

Inspiring the Next Generation
“Youth play a vital role in shaping a more sustainable future,” says Joe Zenobio, President and CEO of Call2Recycle Canada. “By partnering with FDSA, we’re proud to support programs that not only develop strong athletes, but also empower young people to build lifelong habits around environmental responsibility.”
Through local partnerships like this, we are showing families across Canada that battery recycling is a simple action that makes a real difference.
FDSA acting President Rob Tay-Burroughs said, “We are excited that this partnership brings Christine back to Fredericton. She has been a role model for thousands of players through our programs, and we look forward to introducing her in a different capacity to a new generation of soccer players. Through this collaboration, the Association aims to engage players and families in environmental responsibility while strengthening player development pathways.”
Growing Our Impact Nationwide
From coast to coast, Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! is making it easier than ever to safely recycle used batteries. With over 15,000 drop-off locations nationwide, our program is built to meet Canadians where they already spend their time—whether that’s at the store or the soccer pitch.
This partnership with the FDSA is a great example of how we are connecting with communities in everyday spaces. By bringing sustainability to the heart of local programs, we’re helping turn small, individual efforts into a lasting impact for all of Canada.
